It’s a pretty big hill to climb for the Orioles to get into playoff contention right now, but that doesn’t mean you should write them off, and it certainly doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy all the games still to come. That being said, you may have to shift your perception away from a successful season to get excited about the little wins.
What do we mean by that?
There are tons of ways to enjoy baseball without needing to see a trophy at the end of the season, from going to games or just watching a few homers get smacked out of the park. But you can also get a little skin in the game by betting on the Orioles, and create your own excitement. Although the odds for them to win the World Series are immense (and not in the way that makes it a good bet you wan profit well from), there are a number of ways to wager that add some excitement to each game.
The NRFI
The NRFI, or No Run First Inning has become one of the most popular baseball bets, and is generally a pretty solid option when you know the starting pitchers and batting order. Among the many MLB 1st inning props you can find on most of the best betting apps in America, the NRFI has proven to be a very exciting and quick to conclude wager. Plus it’s a simple bet, with your stake saying you don’t think either team will score a run in the first. And the Birds are only getting a runner home 19.83% of the time in the first inning, which is a good thing for the NRFI, but a bad thing for winning.
Of course if you feel the matchup is going to start out with sluggers taking advantage of a soft pitcher, you can wager the flip side YRFI, or Yes Run First Inning. Either way you’ll know the outcome pretty quick, and can then move on to another bet, or celebrate your own personal win if your wager is right.
If you’re looking for other quick bets, you can even wager on the first pitch outcome!
Playing the Parlay
Not a totally new concept in sports betting, parlay betting is combining multiple outcomes into a single wager. This can be done across several games or by taking multiple props from the same game. Either way it’s a good chance to flex your knowledge about matchups and any other factors that could influence the result. Plus, it can be a way to get creative with a wager and see your potential profit shoot up.
The major downside to parlay betting is the risk factor. Since all legs need to be correct, you’ll need to be pretty accurate and probably a bit lucky to see a win.
Hitters and Pitchers
There is no baseball betting without talking about home runs and strikeouts. Anthony Santander has managed to hit quite a few dingers so far, and even if he’s a ways behind Home Run Leaders the right matchups and fields can always favor the switch hitter. On the other side of the plate there are a ton of pitching props to check out, from K’s down to the over/under on pitches thrown.
A final way to bet that makes each run feel like it really impacts the outcome of your wager regardless of how it’s scored is the Race To. You can pick the score you want to see the teams race to, and hope the first team that reaches 3, 4, 5 or 6 (or more) is the one you backed. If you like looking at states and matching up teams that score early vs late this can be a great wager. It doesn’t matter if the team you choose wins, but if you like the Orioles to score three runs before the Red Sox, then this is a solid prop to bet.
There are countless more ways to enjoy betting on baseball and the Orioles, but these are few ways to wager that don’t always focus on the outcome of the game – so you can rest happy that the birds are rebuilding well, and you can still score a few good bets even if they can’t claw their way back into a wild card spot.
