Who is Baltimore’s best sports podcast?

As O’s fans, we’re lucky to have some great podcasts by fans, for fans, to listen to throughout the baseball season. Our own Carne Cabeza has been profiling some of these O’s podcasters this season in his O’s Fan Spotlight series, and we have every Birds podcast that we know of listed over on our Podcast page.

Some of the podcasts are stat-heavy, like Bird Talk, while others are completely off the rails and touch on baseball only sporadically, like Orioles Spastics. Most are somewhere in between, mimicking the type of conversation you’d have while sitting around watching the Birds with friends, like Section 336, Baltimore Sports Report, Bird’s Eye View, and Baltimorons (though it helps to have at least a Bachelor’s Degree to understand what those guys are talking about most of the time – they’re certainly far from “morons.”)

A great thing about them is the amount of inter-podcast collaboration that goes on. Bird’s Eye View, for instance, just had their BEVys show, a mid-season O’s award podcast that many of the other shows participated in (as did we). Orioles Spastics and Section 336 have been “beefing” all year.

Apparently, on August 1, we’re all going to find out, once and for all, which podcast reigns supreme:

  1. Bird Talk is great. I’m also partial to Message Board Wars for obvious reasons, which is also featured on baltimoresportsandlife.com The latter podcast is more off the rails as you say as we do all sports and are wrapping up a big series on the best athletes of our lifetimes (pro no earlier than ’79). A fair amount of O’s talk, though.
