O’s fans got a couple scares this weekend. First, Zach Britton went down trying to field an Adam Eaton grounder in the ninth inning of a 7-7 ballgame on Saturday. Britton was removed from the game and Vance Worley was unable to record the final out of the inning before Eaton came around to score what would end up being the game-winning run. Insult to injury indeed.
The second scare came on Sunday, when J.J. Hardy fouled a ball off his foot, then was removed from the game.
While that second scare is still up in the air, it looks like the O’s may have dodged a bullet on the first one, at least:
For fans asking about Britton, his MRI wasn't scheduled until 1 pm, but ankle is much better today. Could pitch in NYY series. #orioles

Of course, we’re not sure if this means Britton could pitch on Tuesday, or not until Wednesday or maybe even Thursday, but it looks for all intents and purposes like Zach will indeed avoid a DL stint.
Exhale, Birdland.
Then, inhale, and continue holding your breath again until we hear more on Hardy…
