It seems to have become a bit of a routine for me to give a weather update in this space, since all we want here in Baltimore is warm weather and baseball games that count, so here goes: Today is pretty nice – 60’s and lots of sunshine. Feels like baseball. Hopefully we’ll get more of the same in eight days when the O’s take the field at OPACY for the first time since Game 2 of the ill-fated ALCS.

Let’s crank up some linkin’ park.

Rest, Recover, Reload: O’s Ahead of Curve in Injury Prevention

MLB.com’s Brittany Ghiroli has a fascinating article on the way the Birds use advanced techniques (some not-so-advanced as well) to try to limit injuries. Great quotes from Chris Tillman, Richie Bancells (still around!), Buck, Dave Wallace, & more. Teams today look for any small advantage they can get (that’s really all the advanced statistical movement is about) and keeping your guys healthy is one big way to do that.

Variance & Value: Why Chris Davis May Be the Most Important Man in the 2015 Pennant Race

Michael Baumann of Grantland says that those players who may be anywhere from kinda bad to really awesome are the most important ones in the game, not the guys that everyone knows will be in the MVP consideration. He uses our own Chris Davis as an example. Which Davis shows up in 2015? The Birds’ fortunes likely hinge largely upon the answer to that very question.

Nolan Reimold Set for Another Trip to Baltimore

While many O’s fans don’t want to hear it, it looks like ol’ Nolan could be breaking camp with the big club once again. Buck took a host of regulars to Orlando today, and Reimold made the trip as well. He has a nifty .426 OBP this spring, the highest of any player with any appreciable number of AB (he has 44), and Dan Soderberg of Baseball Essential says that David Lough’s injury should open the door for #REIMTIME. Please stay healthy, Nolan.

Bird’s Eye View Episode 115: What’s in a Number?

WBAL’ Pete Gilbert joins Jake & Scott in Episode 115 to talk about covering the O’s during the stretch run & Clinchmas, great Buck-isms, Stones-Beatles, and cheering in the press box. The BEV fellas also touch on Cal Ripken Sr.’s number 7 (should it be retired?), current O’s hall-of-famers (or not), and more.

Section 336 Daily: Opening Day 1976

In today’s Daily, the Zany Bert Rode has a #ThrowbackThursday edition, taking it back to Opening Day of 1976, when an MLB legend was briefly an Oriole.
