Welcome to the inaugural Staturday! Every Saturday I’ll bring you the coolest and most impressive stats from the past week of Orioles’ baseball. A quick disclaimer before we get into it…
When I mention “Orioles’ history” I’m considering the ball club and players since they’ve arrived in Baltimore in 1954. If I say “franchise history” I’m going all the way back to 1901 when they were the Milwaukee Brewers and eventually the St. Louis Browns. Generally records only go back to 1913 but I’ll be sure to let you know when that is or isn’t the case. Without further adieu, let’s take a look at this week!

Since being converted to a reliever in 2014, Zach Britton has been absolutely dominant. There are tons of stats to show how impressive he’s been but this one is particularly remarkable:
Since 2014, Zach Britton has inherited 30 base runners. Only one of them has scored.
On Tuesday, Ryan Flaherty had a rare showing of power with a solo blast to Eutaw Street and he now has a permanent plaque at Camden Yards. Little did I know, he already had one:
That was Flaherty’s second Eutaw Street home run. His last was back in September 2013.

Hyun Soo Kim is living up to his nickname as the “hitting machine” and has had a historic start to his Orioles’ career:
Hyun Soo Kim has become the 4th batter in Orioles’ history to record 30+ hits in a players’ first 26 games.

I did some digging to find out how the Orioles have done versus the AL East since Buck arrived. When Buck started his first full season, in 2011, they continued to struggle. But since then, they’ve owned the East:
Since 2012, the Orioles are 179-144 against AL East teams.
And finally, here’s a throwback that will make every Orioles fan smile:
Since Robert Andino ruined the hopes & dreams of Red Sox fans everywhere, the Orioles are 50-32 against the Sox.
