Happy Staturday Birdland! It was grand week of baseball and today’s Staturday has a grand slam theme. Let’s get to it!
On Tuesday, Manny Machado hit his third grand slam of the season, creating a slue of interesting stats:
Manny Machado has three grand slams this season, tied with George Springer for the most in Major League Baseball.
It’s not just Manny, the rest of team likes hitting grand slams too:
Manny’s slam was the Orioles’ 22nd since 2013, the most in the Majors.
Considering his age, hitting three slams in a season is a pretty special feat:
With his slam, Manny Machado became the youngest player in Orioles’ history with three or more grand slams in a single season. He also tied the MLB record for most grand slams (3) in a season, age 24 or younger.
On a non-grand slam note:
On Wednesday, J.J. Hardy hit his 150th double as an Oriole, becoming the third Orioles’ shortstop to record 150+ doubles.
