Now that the Orioles season is over we take a moment to look back at how great 2014 was an Orioles fan. Of course when we look back, we have to bring out some clips of our thoughts on the Orioles during Spring Training and the season kickoff.
On This Week’s Show
Join us for 336 Live at Buffalo Wild Wings in White Marsh Thursday November 6, at 7:30. We’ll be giving away two tickets to Ravens/Chargers on November 30!
Reflections
The guys reflect on overcoming injuries, winning the AL East, advancing to the ALCS by sweeping the Tigers and their three-headed Cy Young monster.
Are we “happy” about it?
J.J. Hardy re-signs with the O’s. How much influence did Ryan Wagner and the OPACY have on his decision?
Time Machine
What smart and/or stupid things did we say since we’ve been doing this show? Josh pulls 10 clips from three different shows to reminisce on.
* Show Number 1. March 2013
Matt’s first ever intro to a “pode-cast” was a bit lower key.
* Spring Training 2014
The guys watched a game at Ed Smith Stadium, had a few adult beverages and got really excited about Spring Training MVPs Ryan Flaherty and Ubaldo Jimenez, and about J.J. Hardy batting seventh. They also wondered if the O’s should have cut Delmon Young in Spring Training. Matt also saw something in Zach Britton early on, and basically called an ALCS season back in March, while Bert predicted 90+ installments of #KissTheBird.
* Live Show at Mother’s Peninsula Grille, March 2014
Predictions – Bert backtracked and predicted fewer than 90 wins, and said the Birds would miss the playoffs. Josh predicted 92 (thanks to Ubaldo), second place and a Wild Card spot. Matt calls the guys idiots and says this is the best O’s squad in years, and predicts 95 wins and an AL East win.
“Bold” Predictions – Josh got bold by predicting SIX All-Stars, SIX Gold Glove winners, and SIX players hitting 20+ home runs.
World Series
Are the guys watching the World Series? Who are they rooting for?
Apologies & Corrections
“Catching all the breaks” is 65% luck. Matt’s sorry for crying on air. The intern corrects nothing, but has some info for anybody looking to be a bartender in Maryland.
