On this week’s show, Bert’s boy’s value is falling faster than Bert’s Tower of Terror, Brian Matusz becomes the latest in a long line of Orioles cheaters, Mike Wright fights batters and dementors, and Ryan Lavarnway’s DFA solves all the Orioles’ offensive issues.

Bud Norris gave up 9 ER and 12 hits in 2 2/3 IP in AAA the other night. Is Bert despondent? Matt says a big problem is his inflated BA w/RISP. Does Bud ever work his way back into the rotation, or is he destined for the bullpen?

Matt Wieters finally started his rehab assignment, catching for Bowie last night.

Brian Matusz got caught using an illegal substance on his arm. Bert is livid at Matusz for being so obvious about it, while Josh wonders whether the Marlins’ manager would have called Brian out if he had more on-field experience. Matt says EVERYONE is obvious about it, and punishing guys for being dumb is a problem. Every player on the field is apparently wiping pine tar on the ball for the pitchers anyway.

Bert goes off about interleague play after the O’s start this year 1-4 in NL ballparks. Over their last eight, they’re 1-7 in NL ballparks. AL teams playing NL teams in AL parks are 20-12, while AL teams against NL teams on the road are 18-19.

This Weekend

The Birds have a Thursday doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox. Chris Sale will start the first game for Chicago, so the O’s have that one in the bag. T.J. McFarland or Tyler Wilson will likely start one of the two games for the O’s.

After that, the AL East-leading Rays come into town. As bad as the Orioles have been, they’re still just ONE game out of first place in the division.

Zach Britton designed Saturday’s giveaway shirt – listen to his thoughts on designing a t-shirt on the MLB Chatting Cage.
