We guessed what it would be a few weeks ago – now it’s time to see how our predictions turned out.
The Orioles announced their Opening Day lineup a few moments ago. Here she is:
Nick Markakis RF
Manny Machado 3B
Adam Jones CF
Matt Wieters C
Chris Davis 1B
J.J. Hardy SS
Nolan Reimold LF
Steve Pearce DH
Brian Roberts 2B
Jason Hammel SP
As none of the nine folks who participated in our “guess the Opening Day lineup” survey included Steve Pearce, we were all wrong!
Adam Jones in the three hole is the only one we got perfect as a group. Machado hitting second is a surprise. The youngster mashed left handing pitching in the minors though, and hit .280/.321/.480 against MLB lefties once he was called up in 2012.
Many O’s fans will be disappointed not to see Nate McLouth in the lineup, but it’s not a shock against a tough southpaw like David Price. Nolan Reimold is the better option.
And, I’ll call it now – Reimtime will take Price deep tomorrow.
