Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Orioles did exactly what they needed to do in Detroit. Now, with that “most important series of the year” in the rear view mirror, we can move onto the next “most important series of the year.” Three games in Boston against the team atop the AL East by two games over the O’s. Important September baseball is awesome, but also quite stressful.

To the links.

O’s Giving Fans Something to Cheer About in September

Speaking of stressful September baseball, it’s good to remind ourselves that for a decade-and-a-half between 1998 and 2011, we’d have given just about anything for meaningful games after Labor Day. Our own Andrew Stetka, in his weekly MASN guest column, appreciates the situation in which we O’s fans find ourselves, yet again.

The Orioles Can’t Hit Left-Handed Pitchers…What’s That About?

Boston is running out David Price and Drew Pomeranz in the first two games of this series, so it would sure be a good time for the O’s to figure out how to hit lefties. Camden Chat’s Alex Conway goes into the Birds’ counterintuitive struggles vs. southpaws.

Bourn Displaying Unusual Power with Orioles

Dongs are contagious. Michael Bourn had three homers in 89 games in Arizona, and after his eventual game-winning two-run shot off Justin Verlander Sunday, he now has two in the last week with the O’s.

Buck Showalter: Chris Tillman “Not Out of the Woods” Yet

Tilly was very good in his return from the DL Sunday, but the real test will be how his shoulder feels in the coming days.

Adam Jones on MLB’s Lack of “Kaepernick” Protestors

The #Cap10 was asked why MLB hasn’t seen any players protesting during the National Anthem, as Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players have been doing. Adam says many very reasoned and intelligent things in the article, but of course every outlet seems to be focusing on one very specific thing that he said, that will unfortunately drive the discussion. Much like when Buck Showalter spoke about the riots in Baltimore last year, Jones makes this O’s fan proud here. He could have just as easily replied to the question with a “no comment,” but chose to instead say some things with which many folks will likely have a problem.

And in Ravens News…

The Good, Bad, Ugly, and the Megan Fox from a 13-7 Win Over Buffalo

The Ravens ground out a 13-7 win over Buffalo in Week 1 to start the 2016 season on the right foot. RSR’s Tony Lombardi runs down his weekly good, bad, ugly, and player of the game.
