Generally, we do Orioles links on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday around here. However, I had to make a special exception today, as my Twitter feed was just jam-packed with awesome reading for Orioles fans. Why make you guys wait until Friday? Might as well start wasting time at work on Thursday, right?
Let’s get to it…
Manny Machado is Becoming His Idol
Jeff Sullivan of FanGraphs says that Manny Machado’s recent play has suggested that he’s actually starting to live up to his pre-draft hype of being “The Next Alex Rodriguez.” Of course, we hate ARod here in Baltimore, but that’s mainly because he helped the scumbag Yankees win for many years. Sullivan compares what Manny has done so far in 2016 to four years of “prime” ARod and…well, yeah. Sign this man.
Speaking of awesome Orioles shortstops/third basemen, over at The Player’s Tribune, Cal Ripken Jr. himself has written an article worth reading. The Iron Man details his feelings about missing out on the 1982 postseason to the Brewers, dealing with struggling mightily at the plate in his rookie year, avoiding the dreaded “sophomore slump,” and catching the final out of the 1983 World Series. Can we dream about Manny someday orchestrating a similar memory for himself and all Orioles fans?
Reese Waters Learns How to be a Vendor – From Fancy Clancy (Video)
From a Baltimore legend ON the field to one just slightly OFF the field. Reese Waters of ESPN spent a day learning how to be a beer vendor from our own Fancy Clancy. Remember…real vendors don’t wear straps!
Chris Davis Doles Out O’s Superlatives
More love from the national sites (I’ll get you on Friday, O’s Blog O’Sphere!), as ESPN’s Baltimore/Washington beat writer Eddie Matz sits down with Crush to hear from the Big Fella who he thinks is the Birds’ Class Clown, Most Popular, Most Talented, and more.
