Alright, O’pening Day at The Yard is now less than two weeks away, so let’s hope ol’ Mother Nature or El Nino or whoever got that last cold snap out of its system. It’s high time for sunshine, warmth, and our O’s getting some sweet revenge on the Minnesota Twins – for last year, not for yesterday, though I suppose yesterday warrants some retribution as well. Stupid twinkies.
Let’s see what everybody is saying about the Birds today.
Offseason in Review: Baltimore Orioles
Having trouble remembering exactly what took place on the O’s roster over the past few months? Mark Polishuk of MLB Trade Rumors runs down the Birds’ very interesting – and very expensive – offseason from start to finish. Was it money well spent?
Orioles Sign LHP Zach Phillips
The O’s released Chris Jones and signed another lefty, Zach Phillips. Remember him? Yeah, me neither. Apparently he appeared in 16 games for the O’s in 2011-12, and last pitched in the majors in 2013. Britt Ghiroli has the deets.
Gonzalez Trying for that One Good Start
Miguel Gonzalez has been getting beat like he stole something all spring. As mentioned above, it’s almost O’pening Day. Time to show us something, MiGo. He takes the hill again today against Pittsburgh, trying to get his ERA back into single digits.
Bird’s Eye View Episode 156: Sounds of Nashville
Jake & Scott once again welcome Matt Taylor of the wonderful Roar from 34 for some bold predictions and dong/strikeout talk. Give ‘er a listen.
No, Manny Machado Shouldn’t Bat Third
Matt Kremnitzer has some always-fun batting order talk, laying out the reasons why Manny shouldn’t be considered as a candidate to bat third every day. I’m cool with Manny leading off, personally. No lower than two though.
