Manny Machado, as expected, did not receive a warm reception in Oakland on Friday night. A’s fans were on him from batting practice, according to O’s reporters. They had silly signs and masks made up, were chanting “Manny Sucks!” (clever!), the whole nine yards.
One guy even dressed up like a baby with a big orange bottle.

It was weird.
Manny answered his jeers emphatically, with this two-run home run that gave the Birds a 4-2 lead in the 7th inning. As our own Gordon Dixon (who made the below GIF) put it, “revenge is a dish best served cold.”
“And Jeff Samardzija can’t believe it.”
Giving up a home run to public enemy #1 isn’t going to endear you to your new fan base, Jeff.
Unfortunately, the A’s got the last laugh, winning on a three-run walk-off home run. Because sports.
