The O’s/Tigers series was tense from the moment that Bud Norris plunked Torii Hunter in the ribs on Monday evening, causing both benches and bullpens to empty. Though no punches were thrown, Norris was ejected, and Hunter was super, super salty (whiny).
On Wednesday afternoon, Justin Verlander finally retaliated a bit, throwing behind Nelson Cruz.
Cruz delivered his own, uh, “message” back to Verlander.
Or hey, maybe not. Maybe Nellie was just “adjusting,” as baseball players are known to do.
Unfortunately, the Tigers got the last laugh, sweeping the O’s. The two teams will not meet again until 2015, unless they happen to do so in this year’s postseason.
