Not the kind of weekend we’d hoped for in KC, but at least we didn’t let them bust out the brooms, huh? Hopefully the O’s can right the ship a bit down at Tropicana Field before coming home later this week. I watched the Rays batter Michael Pineda of the Yankees around a bit yesterday, and that lineup didn’t look all that weak to me. Shut ’em down, Kevin. Please?
Let’s see what everyone’s saying about the Birds today.
Trey Mancini Continues Tearing Up Double A
Josh Sadlock of Baseball Esstential takes a look at Trey Mancini’s rise from relative unknown to big-hitting top prospect in the O’s organization. He tore up Double A pitching last year, and was doing it again this year until…hey, look at that:
Trey Mancini is going from AA to AAA Norfolk. Handled assignment to Bowie pretty well – just kept hitting & hitting. Bashed 7 homers

Congrats, Trey! Good luck at the next level. Hopefully Josh is writing another article in a couple months about Mancini tearing up Triple A.
Fact and Opinion – Baltimore Orioles
Rob Shields of Baltimore Sports and life offers up some facts and opinions on the Birds. He touches on Pedro Alvarez, Nolan Reimold, Kevin Gausman, Vance Worley, Mike Wright, and more.
O’s Doctors Were Right About Gallardo – When Will They Stop Being Criticized?
Yovani Gallardo’s contract with the O’s went from a four-year deal to a three-year deal (and almost never happened at all) because the O’s medical staff didn’t like something they saw in his shoulder. The national media was hating on the Orioles to no end when this went down. Well, a month into the season, he’s on the 15-Day DL with shoulder/bicep tendinitis. Something similar happened with Grant Balfour a few years ago. The O’s usually seem to be right on these things, so Zach Wilt of Baltimore Sports Report wonders when they’ll stop being criticized for being thorough when giving physical exams. A very fair question.
On the Orioles, Family, and Earl Weaver
Jake English of Bird’s Eye View had the pleasure of taking his son to T-Ball for the first time this weekend, and was relieved when little Henry wasn’t placed on a team called the “Red Sox.” He also inadvertantly ended up getting number 4 for Jr., which could lead to some discomfort when trying to explain the Orioles’ version of Number 4. Good luck, Jake.
And in NFL News…
Monroe Could Alter Ravens’ Draft Plans
RSR/ESR Editor-in-Chief Tony Lombardi says that Ravens tackle Eugene Monroe’s recent tweets have to be giving the team pause when they consider his future with them. Not only that, but when they turn in the card holding the number six pick on Thursday, will Monroe be in their plans? And if so, can they rely on him?
