Baltimore fans – both baseball and football – love to complain about the lack of respect we get from the national media. This has been going on for as long as I can remember, and I can remember (barely) the Why Not O’s of 1989. It’s safe to say it’s been going on even longer than that, but you’ll have to ask someone a bit older than me to back it up.
So, whenever our teams are good enough to force the ESPNs, etc. of the world to take notice, we love it. The 2023 Orioles have done exactly that, on their way to what we hope will be a 100-win season, an AL East crown, and a deep October run. As a result, they’ve been on several national broadcasts recently, and now we’re getting the glossy produced segments starting to show up.
The most recent was on MLB Network this morning. You can watch the entire thing here:
"The 2023 @Orioles is a very resilient group and it's a very tight-knit group. The fact that guys truly love each other, it makes it a ton of fun to show up to the ballpark each and every day."

The segment has interviews with, of course, Mike Elias & Brandon Hyde, as well as young stars like Adley Rutschman. They also, appropriately, talk to players who’ve been through the entire rebuild, like Cedric Mullins and Anthony Santander.
They talk about the probable American League Rookie of the Year, Gunnar Henderson, and the way he emerged from the second round to become, arguably, the star of this surprising team. James McCann speaks about how much fun it is to show up to the ballpark every day. Kyle Gibson describes what made him want to come to Baltimore.
We look forward to many more pieces like this as the team’s magical run continues into October. Let’s win a few in Cleveland this weekend, huh boys?
