If you’re anything like the me – and I know the vast majority of Orioles fans are – you’ll spend at least a few days this summer somewhere “down’ee o’shun.” It may be Ocean City, it may be Ocean Pines, perhaps somewhere in Delaware, or even camping in Assateague. Wherever you choose to vacation, the fact is that most O’s lovers in the area will find themselves on a sandy beach near the Atlantic Ocean at some point during this baseball season.

Vacation is great, but we still want to be able to keep up with our Birds, as baseball is one of very few things that we’re not actively trying to escape when we cross the Bay Bridge. At the same time, we might not want to spend all day or night parked in front of the TV watching the game. There are sunsets to watch, decks on which to have a drink, rollercoasters to ride, UV rays to absorb, boardwalk shops to peruse, waves crashing to serenade us, and fish to be caught. No matter your choice of recreation, the Bird lover in you still wants to hear the sounds of Joe Angel, Fred Manfra, Ben McDonald, and Jim Hunter in the background.

Last year, that was darn near impossible (unless you subscribed to MLB At Bat). For whatever reason, the O’s didn’t have a broadcast affiliate at the Delmarva shore. How many of you – like me – spent way too long flipping the dial on your radio around searching in vain for Angel’s soothing voice? Then you thought you found it, and it was a freakin’ Phillies game. Ugh.

Thankfully, that situation has been remedied for 2016. The following stations on the eastern shore and in Delaware will be carrying Oriole games this season:

WIJK AM 1590 in Ocean City

WIJK FM 104.3 in Ocean City

WJDY 1470 AM in Salisbury

WSUX AM 1280 in Seaford, DE (hm…those are unfortunate call letters…)

WSUX FM 96.3 in Seaford, DE

You can view the entire list of O’s broadcast affiliates, which includes stations in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, North Carolina, and Delaware, here.

One less thing to worry about while we’re on vacation this year – what the heck radio station the O’s game is on!

  1. Pretty sure none of these stations actually carry O’s games. They’ve been listed as affiliates for years, but in most cases don’t actually air the games, out at best do so sporadically. I live in Salisbury and I finally broke down and bought the MLB At-Bat package for audio only to make sure I could hear the games when driving.

  2. Derek,

The WSUX stations and WJDY do not carry to the beach, for folks though in the Seaford area and Salisbury though they will be covered except WJDY at night reduces their signal greatly due to outdated FCC rules so it will be tough there wtih a lot of night games. 1590 and 104.3 are supposedly under new ownership so lets hope they are lot more consistent with the games than the previous management.

    1. Thanks Mike. I contacted WSUX and WIJK to try to clear it up. SUX responded that they DO carry the games all year. I’d hope that would carry at least for folks in the Delaware beaches?

No reply from IJK yet, which doesn’t seem to bode well for that new management…
