Last night in Anaheim, southern California native Chris Tillman tossed eight scoreless innings as the Birds toppled the Halos 5-1.
Tillman really settled down after the second inning, putting together a string of five consecutive 11-pitch innings from the third through the seventh – quite impressive.
However, he was laboring a bit in the first inning, and issued walks to both Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo.
With Trout on second, Josh Hamilton ripped a single to right field, and it looked as though the Angels would be off to the early 1-0 lead.
However, Nick Markakis had other ideas.
You hear a lot about how Markakis’ arm isn’t what it used to be.
Well, at least for one night, Nick’s shoulder-cannon made a triumphant return.

Who was the idiot that leaped to try and catch the throw?…thank goodness he missed, would have been a different story
It was Davis, Tillman was backing up home.
