Happy O’pening Day indeed, Birdland!
On Monday, the Birds ran down the Orange Carpet, ringing in the 2014 season in style.
It was a nail-biter against the Boston Red Sox, but in the end, the O’s came out on top, 2-1.
Supplying the all-important second run?
That was new O’s acquisition Nelson Cruz, who took Sox starter Jon Lester deep to left field for a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Tommy Hunter had a bit of a shaky ninth inning, putting the tying run on board by plunking Will Middlebrooks, then allowing a single to The Hobbit Dustin Pedroia. However, he got Big Sloppy to fly out to left, then struck out Jackie Bradley, Jr. looking to secure the win.
An O’s win, of course, means a “flying butt bump” in the outfield.
Cruz will need to work on his form a bit…

That’s OK Nelson. You’ll have plenty of time to practice.

The Hobbit?
We call him Dog-Faced Boy. WOOF!!
He’s about 3 feet tall and looks like he’d have really hairy feet. Hence, Hobbit. Dog-Faced Boy works too, though.
C’mon Man! He is Rodent face! Dog face and hobbit don’t even come close! or, alternatively… Mouse mouth, Hamster head, Mole mug, Vole varmint… I mean this guy has varmint written all over.
Go to your local pet shop and observe a varmint… any varmint… then watch him at the plate… Uncanny isn’t it?
