On Thursday night in Anaheim, Orioles closer Jim Johnson entered the game in a non-save situation.
JJ hadn’t pitched in a few days, so Buck wanted to get him some work, despite the fact that the O’s had put up two in the top of the ninth on a Nate McLouth homer to push their lead to 5-0. Johnson was already warmed up, so into the game he came.
After inducing a ground out from Mike Trout, Jimmy grooved one to Albert Pujols, who homered to get the Angels on the board.
Unfazed, Johnson then went to work on slugger Mark Trumbo.
JJ made quick work of ol’ Mark.
He delivered consecutive two-seamers, the first a called strike and the second fouled off, before going with the hook on 0-2.
Trumbo wasn’t ready for it, to say the least.
