The Cincinnati Reds were very gracious guests at Oriole Park at Camden Yards this week, coming in and getting swept as the O’s cut their magic number from 19 to 15. They had a fairly large number of fans in tow; I’d imagine it’s a lot like O’s fans taking the opportunity to visit Wrigley this summer, a gorgeous park at which we don’t often get the chance to watch our boys play.

Reds fans in town may have gotten a familiar feeling when they sat in OPACY and looked up at the B&O Warehouse.

h/t to Baltimore Sports & Life message board member “RShack” for pointing out this very cool tidbit:

I watched the Reds’ feed of the 2nd game, just to see what their announcers are like… they’re actually pretty good…

Among other things, I learned that the the B&O built not just one but *two* huge warehouse buildings… which means the OPACY Warehouse has a twin… in Cincinnati… which was the other end of the B&O line…
If you need a big effing warehouse at one end, I guess it’s not surprising that you might need one just like it at the other end too. And it’s still there: http://www.longworth…om/gallery.html

One design built in two places… same brickwork details and everything… and the Cincinnati one is even longer: 1277′ vs 1116’… which I guess is one reason why they always say the OPACY Warehouse is the longest building “on the East Coast”…

Who knew? Not me…

With all the attention OPACY received, you’d think somebody would’ve mentioned it before now…
