At this rate, Chris Davis may end the season with more awards than he has home runs. According to MLB.com, Davis was presented with his second American League Player of the Week award for the week of May 27 to June 2nd. Davis also took home the award in the first week of the season, as well as winning the April Player of the Month.
He led the majors with a .481 average, tied for the MLB lead with four home runs, and led all American League hitters in hits, total bases, runs scored, and slugging percentage.
Davis collected five multi-hit games, including his first multi-home run game of the season (coincidentally coming on Crush Davis T-shirt night) and helped guide the Orioles to a 5-2 record over the week.
His huge week offensively gives him 20 home runs (good for 1st in the MLB), 52 RBIs, and a .357 batting average (both good for 2nd in the American League behind the Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera) for the season.
