Updating a post from last week, Dylan Bundy’s fastball velocity is right back where it should be.
Last week, Jim Duquette noted on 105.7 The Fan that Bundy’s velocity had dipped a bit this spring. So, when Bundy took the hill again last Thursday, all eyes were on the radar gun.
And Bundy delivered, eliciting a collective sigh from Birdland.
His fastball was in the 93-95 range, and hit 97.
As I said last week in the original post, the concern over his velocity was likely to be nothing more than a blip on the radar of a great career. It’s cleared up already, so id doesn’t even qualify as a “blip” at this point.
However, Dylan was still demoted to Double-A Bowie over the weekend, where he will spend the remainder of Spring Training before starting the season with the Baysox.
Most assumed that the 20-year old would be in the minors to kick off the year. Fortunately for me, though, some weren’t so certain – a friend of mine, along with my Dad, bet me and another pal that Bundy would make the Opening Day roster in Baltimore.
The bet was a lucrative one for those of us on the winning side of it – we’ll be treated to a meal at Fogo de Chao downtown, compliments of the losers.
Get your Bowie tickets now, and don’t miss the chance to watch the O’s future ace mow down AA competition.
