The 2013 season seems to be starting off on the wrong foot on a couple fronts for O’s fans.
First, we wake up on Monday and look at the 5-day forecast to see that Friday’s Opening Day (at the Yard) weather is looking quite glum – high of 50 degrees with a 70% chance of rain.
So that’s bad enough, but we can deal with it. Hell, it was about 40 degrees and rainy the last time most of us were at a baseball game at the Yard (in October), so while not ideal, O’s fans can power through some bad weather for a baseball celebration. Not to mention the fact that the weather-guessers will likely change their tune four times in the next four days about Friday’s forecast.
Early this morning, there were rumblings about top prospect Dylan Bundy having some elbow tightness.
Unfortunately, Encina doesn’t seem like the type to be playing an April Fool’s prank on his readers.
Bundy was set to start the season in the rotation at Double-A Bowie along with fellow fireballing prospect Kevin “Gasman” Gausman.
This could help explain the decreased velocity that Bundy was dealing with at times this spring. While this is certainly far from “good” news, the optimist will say that it’s better that his elbow be bothering him than his shoulder.
We’ll of course hope for the best for Dylan and wish him a speedy recovery. One that doesn’t involve Tommy John surgery, preferably.
