Happy Staturday Birdland! The Birds are on the mend, winning two in a row leading up to today’s game. Now let’s see some stats!
The Orioles started the week with a four-game series in Boston. They ended up winning two games and splitting the series:
This week Buck Showalter notched his 69th and 70th wins against the Red Sox as manager of the Orioles.
Besides all the tension and fan “interaction,” another weird thing happened during the series at Fenway:
The Orioles recorded their first triple play since September 1st, 2000. The last triple play was fielded by Melvin Mora, Jeff Conine, and Jerry Hairston.
This week, Manny Machado didn’t back down about how he feels about the Red Sox. He took some of that anger out with his bat:
Before this series, Manny Machado had just four career home runs at Fenway Park. He hit three just this week, giving him the second most homers at Fenway this year.
Prior to the Boston series, Caleb Joseph snapped a really, really “impressive” streak:
Last weekend, Caleb Joseph hit a two-run homer, snapping his RBI-less streak at 58 games. It’s the fourth longest (by a position player) in MLB history and the longest in Orioles’ history.
