Happy Staturday Birdland! Because last week was the All-Star break, today’s Staturday has an All-Star theme. Let’s get to it!
Cal Ripken went to the All-Star Game in his last season and joined some special company:
Oldest players to hit a home run in the All-Star Game:
- Cal Ripken – 40yr, 320d
- Stan Musial – 39yr, 235d
- Hank Aaron – 38yr, 171d
- Babe Ruth – 38yr, 150d
To contrast the last stat:
The youngest Oriole to play in an All-Star Game is RHP Jerry Walker at 20 years, 172 days.
Two of the Orioles’ greats have racked up the most hits at the All-Star Game:
Cal Ripken and Brooks Robinson lead the Orioles in All-Star Game hits at 13 each.
And finally a fairly surprisingly fact considering Crush, Jonesy, & Manny collectively have nine All-Star Game appearances since 2009:
Miguel Tejada is that last Oriole to hit a home run in the All-Star Game. He smacked a solo dong against John Smoltz in 2005.
