As we in Birdland continue to wait for the Orioles to sign a veteran starting pitcher to bolster the rotation, the days keep dragging on with so such good news reported.
Many O’s fans – myself included – want that veteran pitcher to be A.J. Burnett. As we posted the other day, former minor leaguer Don Olsen tweeted that Burnett had received a strong offer from the O’s, and there was a good chance he would land in Baltimore.
Well, here it is four days later, and Burnett has seemingly yet to make a decision.
Judging by his Twitter timeline though, he seems to be leaning towards going back to Western Pennsylvania (yuck).
Yup, A.J. keeps retweeting Pirates fans, and ONLY Pirates fans. No O’s fans. No Phillies fans. Just Pirates fans.
This doesn’t seem like a good omen.
Twitter O’s fan (and MASN employee) @JoePoppa lives down the street from Burnett’s Monkton home, and offered to go see what was going on.
@50ShadesOf_Dave @EutawStReport I'll go knock on his door and see what's going on. He lives down the street.

I countered that he should be the new “Goof on the Roof” (who sat on a Dundalk roof back in 1991 hoping to get the new Baltimore ballpark named “Oriole Park at Camden Yards” – hey, it worked once!) by heading to Burnett’s front lawn and being the “Ass on the Grass.”
.@JoePappa @50ShadesOf_Dave Just camp out. Remember the Goof on the Roof? Be A.J.'s "Ass on the Grass." Just sit on his lawn til he signs.

Come on, A.J. Come to Birdland.

He was terrible in NY….why would Baltimore be any different? The NL has weaker hitters, let him stay there we don’t need him.
Get used to it. He’s an attention whore and he lives for Pirates fans inflating his tired.
