According to multiple reports, the O’s have agreed to terms with their 2013 first-round draft selection Hunter Harvey. The deal is reportedly for the suggested slot bonus amount of $1,947,600, according to Paul Casella of MLB.com.

Harvey, selected by the Birds with the 22nd-overall pick, is a high school pitcher out of Bandys HS in North Carolina. He throws a fastball in the mid-90’s, a curveball, and a change-up. Per MLB.com, Harvey was 8-0 with 116 Ks in 54 2/3 innings during his senior year.

Harvey can now officially join Kevin Gausman and Dylan Bundy as the hopeful future stars of the O’s rotation.

The hope here is not only that Harvey pans out into a top-of-the-rotation type ace, but that he celebrates his new contract by growing a sweet fu manchu like his dad used to rock (and apparently still does)!
