Matt Wieters made his return to the Orioles’ lineup for the first time in over a year this weekend, and to say it was a triumphant return may be underselling it a bit.
In his first three games back, Wieters went 5-for-12 and added a sacrifice fly, driving in three runs while hitting a home run, a double, AND a triple.
That’s right, Mr. Piano-on-his-back himself legged out a triple, the fourth of his career, and first since 2012.
O’s fans will likely remember that Wieters’ first ever big league hit was a triple, off Justin Verlander of all people.
A home run in his final AB Sunday completed his weekend cycle.
