On Thursday, I’m sure we’ll have plenty of writers eager to recap the Birds’ epic, improbable, come-from-behind win in Boston last night, so I’ll hold off on that.

For right now, I just wanted to point out that Adam Jones bestowed Manny Machado with quite an amusing nickname in the aftermath.

Machado had the clutch three-run home run in the top of the ninth after the Birds had tied the game that ultimately led to their 8-5 victory and stopping their three-game losing streak. It was Manny’s first long ball of the year, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

After the game, Adam Jones took to Twitter to praise his teammates’ persistence.

He also unleashed the following tweet though, which will certainly be talked about in the coming days:

“Baby Face Assassin.” As far as I know – and correct me if I’m forgetting something – this is the first time Machado has been called THAT, at least publicly.

Sounds like a comic book character.

As long as Manny keeps blasting clutch late-game bombs and doing his best Brooks Robinson impression at the hot corner, I’ll call him whatever he (or Adam) likes.
