The city of Baltimore has been a special place for a very long time. It’s been home to some amazing sports teams over many years, including the beloved Orioles.

The Orioles really brought the city together starting in the 60s with a winning ball club and players that actually loved the city. Players, like Brooks Robinson actually lived in the city and connected with its residents. They showed they were a crucial part of Baltimore and that they could share a special bond with the fans.

This type of love continued within the 70s and then Oriole Magic was created in the late 70s and carried into the 80s. The city and its players grew even closer together as amazing memories were made and legends were created.

The 90s ushered in the legend of Cal Ripken Jr. as he was dubbed the Iron Man and brought fans to their feet for hours and hours.

Slowly, the Orioles began to falter and had its dark ages through the early 2000s. However, changes were made and the team began its winning ways again. Camden Yards was once again flooded with adoring fans that were ready to welcome back a winning ball team led by a great manager in Buck Showalter.

We’re now at the point where baseball is fun once again in Baltimore and we can bask in all the memories that have happened in the past.

However, this city has reached one of its saddest points as many of its residents have chosen to create havoc. Stores have been looted, police officers assaulted and fires have been set all over town. Our great city has been shown on CNN as a place of utter chaos and disappointment.

The Orioles haven’t been able to play at Camden Yards because of the riots and will likely have to play in D.C. because of the State of Emergency.

While baseball isn’t part of the bigger picture, it still holds a huge part of what the city of Baltimore bonds over.

Fans of all ages, race and gender come together every time the Orioles play at Camden Yards and bond over the game of baseball. They cheer on their team as one and show pride wearing orange, black and white.

At some point, baseball will resume at Camden Yards once again and it should be a time to come together as fans and prove just how everyone can unite as one. Baseball is one of the biggest reasons that this city has a tight-knit bond and it will help bandage the wounds that have been created throughout the riots.

Make sure to return to the ballpark with love for Baltimore in your hearts.

Come together by cheering on the Orioles as they attempt to win the AL East once again.
