Today on the show, Mr. Film Study is in the studio to educate us about the Ravens draft. Also, we will of course get into some Orioles Talk as we will discuss the how the O’s will survive the mounting injuries…all that and more on this edition of Section 336.

Leading Off – Ravens Draft Talk with FilmStudy

The Ravens drafted 10 players last week, and Ken McKusick is here to educate us on those players. Was Laremy Tunsil’s drop strictly related to his Twitter video? Ken says that it’s clear from the team’s words that they had Tunsil higher than Ronnie Stanley originally. He looks forward to grading Stanley, who he calls a “Dancing Bear” in the coming years.

The Ravens drafted a bunch of “good guys” this year – is this a new strategy, or have they been doing this for a long time?

Ken thinks Kamalei Correa, the second-round pick, may have been a bit of a reach at 42. As for Bronson Kaufusi, Ken likes his height and says he’d be less valuable as an OLB. He also notes that he’ll already be 25 by the time the season starts.

How about the crazy fourth round? Ken says B+. He says Tavon Young is short with slightly above-average CB speed. As for Chris Moore? Well, that’s the one pick he really doesn’t like. The one “non-choir boy” the Ravens took was tackle Alex Lewis, and Ken thinks he’ll stick as a G/RT swing player. Running back Kenneth Dixon (not the O’s pitcher who holds a dubious record) is a home run hitter on the field.

Listen in for his thoughts on the rest of the picks!

O’s Talk

The Orioles are dealing with a rash of injuries, as Yovani Gallardo, J.J. Hardy, Zach Britton, and even Adam Jones are dealing with various levels of pain. Gallardo and Hardy are on the DL, while Jones and Britton were fortunately able to avoid it.

Is Jonathan Schoop an above-average second baseman? Matt doesn’t want to hear what these SABR nerds have to say. Ken says there is a “lack of transparency” around WAR, and especially on the defensive side. He’s certainly been disappointing at the plate, unfortunately.

Joey Rickard, who everyone loved a few weeks ago, is now getting a lot of hate from O’s fans. Should Nolan Reimold and Hyun-Soo Kim play more?

Shout out to AL Player of the Month Manny Machado.

Goat Story

Matt finally gets to tell his goat story. There’s no Ball Bag…in more ways than one.
