The Orioles bolstered their bullpen this afternoon, trading pitching prospect Eduardo Rodriguez to the Boston Red Sox for lefty Andrew Miller.
ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick had the story first.
Miller, 29, is 3-5 with a 2.34 ERA for the Sox this year. His FIP is a miniscule 1.69, and he has 69 Ks to just 13 BB in 42.1 IP. Unlike Brian Matusz, Miller can get both righties and lefties out: righties hit .180./.279/.258 off him and lefties .150/.203/.217.
According to Baseball-Reference.com, Miller is a free agent in 2015.
Eduardo Rodriguez is 3-7 with a 4.79 ERA in 16 starts with Double-A Bowie this season. Top 70 preseason prospect: http://t.co/KLBgchzALS

There are still over 45 minutes until the trade deadline reaches us, so we’ll see if Dan Duquette is still working on anything.
