After bouncing back admirably following some adversity in Boston last Friday night to win two of the next three, the O’s saw the wheels fall off at the back end of the road trip, dropping four in a row in Beantown and Toronto. The Blue Jays have been quite the thorn in the O’s side here early in 2015, as the good guys are just 1-5 against Toronto. On the bright side, they’re 6-4 against everybody else!

The biggest problem (of many) has been the pitchers’ (starters, bullpen, whatever) inconsistency in finding the strike zone. Unfortunately, Boston, coming to town for a three-game weekend set, isn’t exactly the team to get healthy against in that regard.

Cue up the linkin’ park.

10 Reasons Not to Panic Yet

The other day, John from O’s Uncensored gave us 10 reasons he’s panicking about the O’s already. Today, Chris Booze of Camden Chat looks at the other side of the coin, and stresses patience. Some prefer to panic, but others realize that the season is a marathon, not a sprint (or a series of sprints, as is the NFL season). Not to say that either is right or wrong – you fan how you want to fan, Birdland.

Where’s the Magic?

It looked like the Orioles might pull out their first bit of magic of 2015 last night, as a three-run dinger from Manny Machado in the ninth inning pulled them to within 7-6. It wasn’t to be, unfortunately. Bird’s Eye View takes a look at the crazy SABR stat WPA in search of this season’s magic.

Earl Weaver Had it Right

Another night, another fight in a KC Royals game. Anyone who was paying attention last October saw what the Royals are all about, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise. Still, it’s getting a bit ridiculous, as the White Sox became the latest team to be goaded into a skirmish over the Royals’ theatrics. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports remembers some wisdom from Earl Weaver, and throws in a nice little Jim Palmer anecdote as well.

Drought Bracketology Championship

Both here and over at O’s Uncensored, we’ve been doing the O’s Drought Bracketology for the last month-plus. We’ve narrowed the field from 64 down to two, and it’s time to decide the champion. Will it be Melvin Mora, or Brian Roberts?

Orioles Hope to Find a Cure in Home Cooking

Roch Kubatko of MASN cites the Orioles’ lack of roster flexibility as one of the big problems right now. We know how much Buck and Dan love their flexibility, but they had to see this coming, especially with Rule 5 pick Jason Garcia still in the mix. What they couldn’t have seen coming is this rash of injuries that’s now claimed the entire middle infield, including the backup utility guy.
