Now that was a fun game. Unfortunately, the Birds have followed up their last two fun games (mashing in Chicago, comeback in San Fran) with a bunch of duds. Hopefully history doesn’t repeat itself and they can actually put this momentum to use.

Matt says that the main culprits in the second half have been Jonathan Schoop, Matt Wieters, Mark Trumbo, and Chris Davis, though the last name on that list seems to inspire the most hand-wringing from fans.
Gausman was finally the beneficiary of an O’s offensive onslaught last night. He was decent, though not spectacular, allowing five runs (four earned) in 6.2 while striking out eight and walking only one. Nick Cicere of Camden Chat offers up a defense of the youngster, saying that his higher-than-hoped-for ERA is misleading.
