Happy April Fool’s Day, Birdland.
Two years ago today, my now-wife and I told our families that, after nearly a decade of dating, and after said families had pretty much given up on the possibility it would ever happen, we were going to finally get married. Believe it or not, we didn’t even realize that we had chosen April 1 to make the announcement. Possibly even less believable is that neither family picked up on it either; it wasn’t until later that we all sort of collectively realized, “hey, that might have been a joke.”
I relay this story to let you know that April Fool’s pranks aren’t really my thing, and are usually the furthest thing from my mind, other than being extra careful when perusing the internet today. Our Editor-in-Chief, Tony Lombardi, though, loves blogging on this day every year. Go check out his column today to find out why.
Still, there is plenty of fun to be had today, so let’s do just that.
Hat tip to the awesome @CespedesBBQ for pointing out this wonderful feature that baseball-reference has installed for today:
LET’S APPLY IT TO SOME ORIOLES!
I think this is actually that guy that was scouting the Royals during the playoffs last year…
Lookin’ good, Stevie Wayne.
This needs to be a real thing, I think.
Darren O’Day would fit in quite well in the 1920’s MLB. Or boxing circuits.
Settle down, ladies.
I got nothin’ but giggles.
And, classic Orioles:
Eddie with the double-stache!
Finally, the Skip…

Head over to baseball-reference.com to make your own hairy Orioles. And be careful what you read today, of course.
